Wikipedia is an impressive, free online encyclopedia written and edited by volunteers from all over the world. It compiles knowledge on nearly all topics and is freely accessible. Wikipedia content is licensed under the free “Creative Commons Attribution-Share-Alike” license. More than 265,000 volunteers edit the projects each month, resulting in over 65 million articles in more than 300 languages. Wikipedia is a digital, modern, public-interest-oriented commons.
Commons means: resources belong to everyone and are used and maintained collectively.
Wikiwand (entirely legally) extracts content from Wikipedia in order to make a profit.
